If your website traffic dropped suddenly after a Google update, do not start rewriting pages yet. Work through the causes in order of likelihood: prove the drop is real, check whether your own site changed, see how much of the site is affected, and only then compare the dates with a confirmed Google update. Many apparent "update hits" turn out to be a broken tracking tag, a noindex left on after a redesign, or a seasonal dip that happens every year.
